Planners

Parents,
We have a new way of using our planners! We started this new way last week, so hopefully your child has shown you, as they've all assured me they have. We are now write down what we did that day under the various subjects. Below is my example that the kids see and copy from the board. Mine may look a little different than your child's, particularly in math, as I write what all three classes did, the kids just write what their class did. This at times happens in reading as well, as some groups read different stories. Nevertheless, you will be able to look at your child's planner nightly and see what they did that particular day.

Math: Fractions Unit

Image result for math clip artThis last week we began our fractions unit in math. Students will be using various visual models, such as rulers, egg cartons, and more to gain understanding about fractions. This unit will focus on equivalent fractions, adding and subtracting fractions and converting improper fractions to mixed numbers. I would encourage you to ask your child probing questions at home as this math unit unfolds and to show (sketch out) some examples.

Fall Conference

Fall Conferences give us a chance to discuss academic, behavioral and social goals for your child. Please take a moment and complete this survey so I can be better prepared for our discussion. Also, I will send home a conference reminder before the week's end stating the date and time our meeting is scheduled. I appreciate your partnership in helping your child have a successful 4th grade year!
